I attended Operation Volant Warrior at NPTC last week. I took the NPTC Jumpmaster course which ran 10-17 Oct. The SF-10A basic course ran from Tuesday through Saturday. The Straphanger (previously qualified current parachutists) jumps began with the Cessna on Wednesday. The C-47 Tico Belle arrived on Friday and everyone jumped from that aircraft on Fri, Sat and Sun. I completed the Jumpmaster course. Whether ADT recognizes that qualification to allow me to JM jumps here is another issue. I thought the course was fantastic. We learned among other things Jumpmaster Personnel Inspection (JMPI), how to spot and calculate a release point for jumpers on a drop zone and jump commands in the aircraft. The culminating exercise was being the JM on a lift on the C-47 and dropping two sticks of paratroopers. A picture of the Jumpmaster graduating class (minus two not in the photo). With respect to parachute operations, attendance at OVW was a record for NPTC. There were about 100 jumpers there, including 22 students. We flew 10 lifts on the C-47 on Friday and six on Saturday. Tico Belle was down part of the day on Saturday to replace a fuel pump. I also had a chance to assess the SF-10A basic course while it was in progress. The ADT training is better, but at NPTC you learn the SF-10A which is a better parachute than the MC1-1C the ADT uses. A shorter course might suit you if that's what you want. The next NPTC SF-10A course will be February 23-28. Post up or PM me if you are interested.
