Hey gents,
A friend of mine asked me to restore a helmet for him and to dress it up as one from the 82nd. His grandfather was a C-47 pilot in the 314th TCG and was in HQ. His squadron codes were S2, Q9 and E5. He says his grandfather also dropped Pathfinders as his first stick and later dropped another stick on the 6th.
I am not up on my 82nd history, so I do not know if the 82nd had anything on their helmets as far as battalion or divisional markings. I see that some used vesicant gas detecting paint as a two tone camo on their helmets.
So what if anything would an M-2 82nd helmet have marked on it if anything at all?

Hey gents, So what if anything would an M-2 82nd helmet have marked on it if anything at all? The vesicant camo was used in Normandy, but would most likely have been covered with a british issue small mesh (1/4" squares) net. Some pics you can see the camo through the netting. Some 505 helmets had the rampant lion and I've seen a few with the jack of diamonds...hard to see in most pics because of the quality and all of those pics were N.Africa/Sicily. For Normandy, the most common is plain OD, no other markings, with the net.
