The opportunity to wear Class A's are far a few between. Also where combat uniforms changes with the event, Class A's are universal. I sort like the idea of wearing the final version of the DUI out of respect of the accomplishments these guys achieved.

I think the first version could be wearable without too many fingers being pointed because nobody can say for 100% that They were or were not worn but the later one's were definatly not worn and would give the finger pointers something to chirp about.

I thought only birds and cheap car alarms chirped. Lets agree on a set that's available for under 50 bucks, so we can at least represent. We can always upgrade and make corrections as we go along! Of course I'm not advocating a modern non-World War 2 set...

This is my thought because there were few who had. lets start it off with founding members only, then we can use that as a pin given to members who have attened a majority of events and in good standing after a year, as a marker of time in. Or something similar. This will allow for time for folks to obtain them and allow us to show class A's off in various levels

Not bad reasoning there. I have always thought the class A thing could be worn at different levels anyway, from boot camp recruit to end of war fully badged. Most units I've been in allow it to be up to the individual. In the 101 you had to wait for / earn jump wings, everything else was optional. Some guys had a hard time wearing anything on the class A they didn't actually earn like the CIB and even campaign ribbons, so we allowed them to go Class C with an M41 or flight jacket. We just need to have a "maximum" standard so it doesn't get carried away.

That makes perfect sense to me. Reasonable should be the policy.

I like the idea of founding members wearing the pin and new recruits have to earn it. How about if there was a ceremony "of sorts" where the new guy who earns the right To be a all american gets his private stripe and D.I presented to him at the same time. Watcha think fellers?

That was my Idea, Not to discourge rather set standards and goals for folks to shoot for. any promtion or award should be encouraged by the founding members for all to seek and achive together. This unit is about everyone not a single person.

We already have a rule of newbs attending 3 events to earn jump wings and get pinned on the 4th event...then becoming full members. I guess we can add the DI's to that, but seems moot.

I was thinking a year or 4 additonal battles after your pinned, sametime a PFC rank is given. Unless we are giving PFC with wings.
