Greetings Gentlemen,
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is James Reed (known far and wide as Trooper Bleed). I am currently residing in the Ventura CA area. I am contacting you all because I am interested in possibly joining the CHG contingent of the 82nd Airborne. Like most of everyone here, I have a strong interest in military history, namely the Second World War and Civil War.
It is no surprise that this interest has expanded into living history and re-enacting. I have been Civil War re-enacting with Co. A, 2nd Mass. Vol Cavalry "the California Hundred" for eighteen years. Also, I am an active member with the 82nd Airborne Living History Association (82nd LHA) based in the LA area. I have been with this great group of men for about three years and have learned much. Additionally, I have been a member of the CHGs 442nd/34th Division for about two years. However, I have not really participated in many of their events, even though they are a good group of guys, as most of my equipment and my interests are all geared toward the Airborne.
My desire to join the 82nd Airborne of the CHG stems from my thirst to learn more, as well as to become more involved in the physical aspect of re-enacting World War II. As I mentioned I have been doing Civil War for quite a while but have not really become active in World War II battle scenarios. I have noticed it is easier to become involved when you have a unit you can call "home", rather than trying to fall in with anyone who will have you. I have a "home" with the 82nd LHA and I would also like to call the 82nd CHG my home, if you all will have me.
I have attached a picture from the Wings Over Camarillo airshow in August 2014. I am the BAR gunner in the center. If you need one, I will bring some firepower to the field as this would be my preferred weapon (my garand is too nice to beat up on the field).
Thank you all for your consideration,
James "Bleed" Reed
"All the way!"
