Well, I ordered one from CMP, but not this one specifically. A really nice H&R arms Garand with a brand new stock was sent to me for the CMP order. The gun was practically mint. However, I met a guy who wanted my rifle and I knew he had a really nice WW2 Springfield Garand (1 mil serial no.) so I traded the gun with him. Stocks beat up but original, so is the rest of the parts. I like beat up stocks .
Here's the album of the gun. I also got an OK m3 knife repro from the Costa Mesa gunshow, got it for $30.00 so I got no complaints here.
I have a few question not related to the gun though. I'm watching the detail strip video to get an idea on that. And my carelessness got myself a Garand thumb too. That was painful.
First, where is it appropriate to hang the bayonet? I tried different locations but concluded it will always interfere with the cartridge pouches if I put it on the cartridge belt. I tried hanging it by one end and it seems to do the trick, but was that done at all? Second, where and how should I wear the M3 knife? I know some tied them to their legs, but with what? And even then how did they dealt with the hanging strap at the end. More importantly what is the use of the strap? Also, is there another location to wear it besides the legs? I know it has the metal hangs for hanging it on the web gear. Was that done at all? I tried looking at photos but most are tied up to their leg, or just not visible.
I hope I am posting this at the right section. Thanks in advance for answering.
