Troopers,
Will post up more info on this soon, including: how to word your letter, optional avenues of access to IDPF, and also some tips about ways you can find out things about your KIA's.
This is something that I plan to bring up in our first unit meeting as well...
Any questions, post up or PM me...

Fernie actually found that the "email approach" is unbelievably fast. They send you a PDF of all the documents that used to take months for them to scan and send.

Brett Fernie actually found that the "email approach" is unbelievably fast. They send you a PDF of all the documents that used to take months for them to scan and send. This is very true and something I intended to address in the post concerning the above mentioned things. The "letter" example is just an idea of what should be said/addressed. You don't have to write a physical (and some would say archaic lol) letter to send through the mail. The IDPF can only tell you so much about your KIA. Sometimes the information is also incorrect/misleading. Case in point, my KIA has no confirmed Date of Death. Several different dates are listed throughout his file. But, through extensive research through different avenues of approach, I have narrowed down his whereabouts, story, and very close to getting a solid Date of Death. Apart from his military experience, which is mostly what the IDPF addresses, I have TONs of info about his life before the army. Records, high school year book photo and much much more info, none of which the IDPf gave me. But it is a GREAT starting point! My post will be for those who choose to dig a little deeper than just the IDPF. - Brett

After 5 plus years of negative results, my jump brother Roger Vershcueren from Belgium just sent me this pic of my Bio-Buddy Pvt. Fernando A Pena Jr grave marker.
