I've seen this picture before but stumbled on it again. I was used as proof that Sgt Saunder's Helmet in Combat! wasn't so off the mark. And this being usd by 82nd Airborne soldiers

Sgt. Saunder's was an actual factory made cover, these are parachute material. This was taken in Normandy sometime after the 6th...cool, but not common. I like how the dead kraut doesnt really exist to them...hard men.

Yeah they thought they were being clever till their own GI's shot at them.
Yes I read that this did indeed happen. Same with the 2nd Armored guys that thought they were being clever by wearing the Marine style camo HBT overalls.
