Fernie had an emergency and had to deploy his reserve chute. He will explain what happened when he gets back from jump school. But, he separated one of his knees on his 39th Jump. He is ok. The photos on the ADT Facebook page looked worse than it was because he wason a backboard with a neck brace on. He spent 19 or 20 hours in the hospital. He is in pain, and off jump status for the remainder of jumpschool, but he is ok. That is all I have.
OK from the med ward now that the swelling is down, I was 2nd stick #3 behind Gipper and his daughter Spike was at the door! We get the Go signal so Spike goes then Gipper and my turn came up and had a good exit but did not launch myself far enough to catch the prop blast which turned me over. Still kept a good body position but it was too late to correct and 2 cords grabbed my left ankle causing my left knee to dislocate, OUCH!!! I immediately recognized my malfunction and deployed the life saving chest pack reserve chute, went to knife and throw just like in training but it decided to take off on it's own and badabing, full reserve canopy. So I was able to untwist those darn paracords from my ankle and my main canopy was in full bloom, unable to untwist my risers I rode it out and did a right rear PLF with one leg saving myself more damage. Like I been saying, this is not for the feeble or weak of mind, thanx for the prayers and sorry for a late post. Fernie
Went to see my orthopedic surgeon on Monday, so he tells me no damage just a bone bruise and swelling!!! now I am scheduled to see a theropy specialist and go from there, oh and Doc said I can jump in 3 months or so.
