Hello Everyone,
My name is Alex and I am interested in joining. I am located in the Arcadia/Monrovia area. This would be my first time joining any re-enacting so I am completely clueless about the cultures and basically what is expected from people. I was hoping I could get some pointers on that before anything.
A year ago I got a little bit of interest and actually bought some items, looking back that was a stupid decision. Since I had no idea what is needed or what is not! Most of my questions would be regarding gear, and it's authenticity.
Right now I have some basic items lying around, and I was hoping someone can tell me what other things I should obtain and most importantly where. Of course, this doesn't mean I am just going to storm off and buy them but I'd like to keep a list if I decided to dive in to this hobby. All of these were ordered at atthefront.com a year ago.
Standard 1942 Jacket and trousers- I don't have anything sewed on there. And I was wondering what kind and how should I put the insignia up there.
Reproduction M-1C w/net - I don't know if these are acceptable, I have no markings on it.
An OK set of Jump boots from them.
Cartridge Belt, (USA Made)
M1936 Suspenders (USA Made)
Musette Bag (USA Made)
M1910 Canteen Cover (USA Made)
M1924 First Aid Pouch (USA Made)
Add Canteen & Cup (reproduction)
Please let me know which ones are acceptable and what else I need. And one thing that bothers me are actually my glasses, they are definitely not WW2 style and I was wondering if someone knows where to get them. If I cannot I might have to stick to contact lenses (I hate wearing them for more than a couple hours) or just not wear them.
Also regarding weapon, although I have put in a CMP order some weeks ago. As everyone who ordered from them knows, they have a long backlog and it takes some time. From my understanding I would NEED to get a garand to participate.
Most importantly, what other steps do I need to take now?
Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you guys some time.
Alex C.
